We adore Mexican, Tex-Mex and Southern American food, so imagine our delight at finding Packit Gourmet of Austin, Texas. “We personally select and carefully taste-test each and every item offered to make sure that the flavour, texture, appearance and nutrition are something that we would want to eat at home or on the trail,” proclaims the Packit website. “Having trekked a few miles ourselves, we know that size, weight, water and time conservation are also important so we hand pack and package with that in mind. If we wouldn’t use it or eat it – you won’t see it sold in our store.”
We’re wild about their flavours; we continue to work our way through the range and are yet to find a dud. We regard Packit as our premium freeze-dried range. Only downside: the food miles! We apologise for that, and the freight costs that go with it, but urge you to give this wondrous lightweight food a try.
