Served with fresh green beans and creamy buttery mashed potato, these deliciously rich beef portions are slow cooked in rich, shiraz-infused stock with celery and carrots. Lovingly handcrafted by Mic Giuliani of Sirocco South (see About Mic, below), this meal is for the first night on the track only (they’ve been pasteurised but not dehydrated) and comes in a 2 serve pack.

This dish deserves six out of five stars! It’s absolute trekking luxury. The mashed potato was lovely, flavoursome and creamy. The beef cheek melted in the mouth, and the Shiraz sauce was restaurant quality! The green beans were a nice fresh addition to the meal. Great generous portion, that made others in the hut very jealous! Cannot recommend this meal enough.

    • Hey Julie – so glad you loved it as much as we do. You were our first eater out on the track, so we hope to convert walkers to the luxe idea one mouth at a time …

Very tasty meal and quick to make too! Within 15 minutes we were sitting down enjoying the most melt in your mouth beef cheeks we’d ever had, with some tasty tasty mash and fresh green beans. We were the envy of all the poor punters eating their dehydrated mac’n’cheese.

Yummo’ really enjoyed this first day meal – only disappointment is that we didn’t take the bottle of Shiraz to go with it! Plenty for two and lovely to have the fresh beans

Items in our First Night Fabulous range are real, fresh Tasmanian food. Our Sirocco South meals are vacuum-sealed and pasteurised after cooking and testing has shown that they’re stable at room temperature for up to several days – but for absolute safety we sell them on the condition that you’ll consume them on night one, at Surveyors Cabin.

We store Sirocco South meals frozen. That means they’re defrosting when we deliver your food. If you take delivery the day before you start your walk, we strongly recommend that you store the meal in a refrigerator overnight (don’t re-freeze it).

Our friend Mic Giuliani is one of the caped crusaders of Tasmanian food. By day, he’s a mild-mannered specialist trainer working for the Tasmanian government. After hours, he’s in the kitchen cooking up magic, using fresh Tasmanian ingredients to create dishes for Sirocco South – his fabulous take on Italian cuisine. Mic’s food has been a sellout favourite at Hobart’s Farm Gate Market and at special events including Taste of Tasmania and Dark Mofo. Now, you’re just a couple of clicks, a bit of typing and a short walk from savouring it on your first night on the Three Capes Track.
