Magiche polpette di carne! These home-made Italian pork meatballs are delicately flavoured with pepper and fennel and are bathed in a rich, chunky tomato sauce. They come with a bed of risoni pasta and fresh shaved parmesan to serve. Lovingly handcrafted by Mic Giuliani of Sirocco South (see About Mic, below), this meal is for the first night on the track only (they’ve been pasteurised but not dehydrated) and comes in a 2 serve pack.

    Super delicious and quick one pot meal. The flavours of the fennel and tomato sauce were lovely and warming after a fresh walk in the tassie air. Generous serving, and topped off with parmesan. Simply delicious and hearty food 🙂

    Yep, absolutely delicious first night meal! So easy to prepare and we both agreed we need the recipe for home (you’ve got my email) excellent proportioning for the two of us and well balanced with the seasoning.

    Strongly recommended as a first night meal – nothing like getting to eat real food on a multi-day walk, let alone something tasting so great. Dead easy to prepare. The effort that has gone into preparing and packaging up such tasty, practical food is clear. The delivery service from Ian and Gail is absolutely fantastic – great to see such customer focus and service.

    First night fabulous alright!. These meatballs are delicious and as good as anything you would get in a good restaurant. You have to get some of these as you will not regret it!
    Other bush walkers just had to look on in envy.

Items in our First Night Fabulous range are real, fresh Tasmanian food. Our Sirocco South meals are vacuum-sealed and pasteurised after cooking and testing has shown that they’re stable at room temperature for up to several days – but for absolute safety we sell them on the condition that you’ll consume them on night one, at Surveyors Cabin.

We store Sirocco South meals frozen. That means they’re defrosting when we deliver your food. If you take delivery the day before you start your walk, we strongly recommend that you store the meal in a refrigerator overnight (don’t re-freeze it).


Our friend Mic Giuliani is one of the caped crusaders of Tasmanian food. By day, he’s a mild-mannered specialist trainer working for the Tasmanian government. After hours, he’s in the kitchen cooking up magic, using fresh Tasmanian ingredients to create dishes for Sirocco South – his fabulous take on Italian cuisine. Mic’s food has been a sellout favourite at Hobart’s Farm Gate Market and at special events including Taste of Tasmania and Dark Mofo. Now, you’re just a couple of clicks, a bit of typing and a short walk from savouring it on your first night on the Three Capes Track.
